Bonus Post: Ily’s Relaxing Guide to the 20th Anniversary Currency
Updated 10/28 to include first secret event flags
Howdy folks! A few of my guildies requested that I do a write-up for how to efficiently, easily, and not annoyingly complete the 20th anniversary event stuff going on. This guide is intended to give you a tldr on how to maximize your token gains per week, explain how the various events work, and present you with the best paths to get tokens. This guide will offer you the deets on the maximum amount you can get per week, but please know I don’t recommend doing some of these-they’re super annoying and I’ll eat my own foot if you genuinely need to get every token every week to get cosmetics maxed.
Remember: this currency is warbound transferable-you can earn on multiple characters and keep track in anyone’s currency tab. It is found in the “miscellaneous” tab.
ESPECIALLY BECAUSE! Once you get 100 you earn the achievement “Token Collector” that lets tokens drop from repeatable 20th anniversary events. In other words, endless token farm. Don’t stress!
First, a detailed breakdown of every source of tokens, weekly and one-time:
At the anniversary event:
· Celebrate Good Fun! – 3 tokens – complete any anniversary stuff
· Timely Gate Crashers – 3 tokens – kill tanaris anniversary world bosses
· Soldier of time – 3 tokens – earn 500 honor in korrak’s revenge
· An original path through time - 3 tokens – complete 5 classic TW dungeons
· Disturbance Detected: Blackrock Depths – 3 tokens – defeat final boss brd and loot item
· Chromie’s Codex – 3 tokens – queue for scenario and complete
Total: 18
In Khaz Algar
· Queen Ansurek kill (LFR or above) – 3 tokens
· Pinnacle cache weekly - 2 tokens
· Kill active world boss – 1 token
· Special Assignment World Quests (one Tuesday, one Friday at 10PM) – 1 token each
· Theater troupe – 1 token
· Awakening the machine – 1 token
· Spreading the light WQ – 1 token
· Pact – 1 token
· Rollin down in the deeps/10 wax globs weekly – 1 token
· Rufious PVP quests – 3 tokens (sparks of war etc, warmode on)
· Weekly PVP brawl – 2 tokens
Total: 18
One time tokens:
· Anniversary starting questline (Meet and Greet and Shopping Squee!) – 4 each
· Blackrock Depths first clear (Truth of the Dark Irons) – 5 tokens
Total: 13 tokens
Secret Event:
6 tokens from completing initial quest chain
IF YOU DO EVERYTHING, here’s what the maximum weekly caps will look like before the achievement is unlocked:
Week 1: 55 tokens
Week 2: 91 tokens
Week 3: earn 10 tokens to unlock your achievement for repeatable tokens!
These numbers are now subject to change given the hidden event-here’s the current counts for the first step that gives 6 tokens.
Ew, weekly pvp quests?
I don’t enjoy pvp stuff, especially not Korrak’s Revenge bc oh my god it’s horrible. Brawls are definitely easy enough, but I definitely don’t have interest in the weeklies such as war mode and bg wins. As such, I’m leaving pvp out of my tokens as much as I can.
So are you still getting repeatable tokens in week 3?
I am! Because I can definitely deal with limited pvp time and will do all pve easily each week, I need to find a total of 3 tokens from pvp stuff to still unlock the repeatable tokens week 3 (see math below).
Your options include: One Korrak’s revenge, 2 pvp brawl weeklies, any combination of weekly pvp quests totaling 3 tokens, or doing some of the secrets of azeroth starting quests. The easiest way to get 3 tokens is now by far the secret event starting quest.
Math for no pvp quests at all:
Week 1: 41 tokens (max 49 minus 8 for pvp events)
Week 2: 69 tokens (max 85 minus 8 from last week and minus 8 more from this week)
Week 3: 97 tokens (once again without 8 tokens, total of minus 24 now)
97+3=100=achievement, so one Korrak’s or equivalent will net you an achievement the same week as the max-token nerds!
I don’t have much play time and am ok getting repeatable tokens a week late. What’s your recommended strat for not spending too much time each week with this event?
The tldr on how to efficiently, easily earn 28 tokens each week and unlock your repeatable tokens in week 4:
Anniversary events:
· Pick up every weekly at the anniversary event
· Complete your 5 timewalking dungeons, this will also complete celebrate good fun
· World bosses in Tanaris
· CHROMIE’S CODEX QUEUE AS A TANK OR WITH A TANK FRIEND OR YOUR QUEUE WILL BE ENDLESS
· Queue for LFR BRD final wing-only emperor dagran thaurissan is needed for the quest!
· Congrats, you just earned 15 tokens!
Khaz Algar:
· Pick up your pinnacle cache weekly and the weekend event weekly-try to overlap with any other events if possible (i.e., awakening the machine, world quests you’ll do to unlock special assignment, world boss, etc.)
· At the next nearest hour, complete theater troupe weekly
· Complete anytime zone objectives such as awakening the machine and spreading the light
· Make sure to do your world boss while you’re in the active zone!
· Make sure to do 3 world quests in the special assignment zone!
· Queue for LFR Ansurek (or use your weekly raid clear for your Ansurek kill)
· Turn in all your other quests, and check back Friday for your 2nd special assignment!
· Congrats, you just earned 13 tokens!
What do I lose by getting repeatable tokens a week late?
I think nothing! We don’t have full communication about how the repeatable tokens work but I’m not super worried about this. If it’s anything like anniversaries prior, and the current design philosophy, just play the game and you’ll get the stuff.
Repeatable tokens will come from the anniversary events. What the heck are those?
The cute little mini games around the event space in Caverns of Time! They are listed as follows:
Story time: Lorewalker Cho will tell a story. You get to react as part of the crowd!
Fashion Frenzy: Transmog contest, basically Dress to impress but for WoW.
Mount Mania: an NPC will mount random mounts. Match her mount in your collection!
These events happen every hour: story time at :00, fashion frenzy at :15, another story time at :30, and mount mania at :45. You can follow along the mini-map icons and broadcast text to show you where the events are.
Other Stuff that I don’t think gives tokens but I’ll check for sure once I have the achievement:
Pet Corner-disguise yourself as a pet, have catnip, and scream
Photo Booth-take portals to picturesque locations in every continent!
Balloon rides-take a ride around the event!
Ice rink-cosplay as an olympian and skate!
Ily, I want the meta achievement for the mount. How do I get that?
